Staff Spotlight on Mrs. Bunnell

Staff Spotlight

Mrs. BunnellMrs. Jessica Bunnell is the K-2 art teacher at both Longfellow and Starry. She grew up in Mitchellville, Iowa where she graduated from Southeast Polk High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.  Prior to joining the Longfellow and Starry families, Mrs. Bunnell taught K-5 art for the South Tama Community School District for two years. Her favorite thing about teaching is building relationships with students and learning about their lives through their artwork.

Mrs. Bunnell’s family includes her husband, Ryan, and two children, Stella (3) and Nolan (1).  Ryan is a mechanical engineer for Collins Aerospace. They enjoy cheering on the Cyclones at home games and spending time at their new house- especially having fun in their big new yard.

When she is not helping our students explore their creative side, Mrs. Bunnell enjoys spending time with her family and making her own artwork. Some day she hopes to visit many different art museums in Spain and Italy.

When asked what her favorite thing about Longfellow is, Mrs. Bunnell replied, “I love the strong sense of community between staff, students and families. I always feel supported in all I do.”

Longfellow is grateful for all Mrs. Bunnell does for our students and staff!
