Please welcome our new 7th/8th grade literacy teacher, Sarah Stephenson! This will be her 19th year teaching. She began her career at the middle school level, then taught ninth grade and AVID for awhile; now, back at the middle school level (her favorite!) She has enjoyed teaching at schools both in the Cedar Rapids, IA and Portland, Oregon areas. She got her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa and her masters at Portland State University. She went into education because she wants to make school (and education) a warm, meaningful, and purposeful place for ALL students. She decided to work at the middle school level because middle school is a time of transition--when students discover who they are and who they want to be!
She’s a mom of 2 (Jack 10, Hazel 5) and recently moved back to the area. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and then moved to Oregon for 12 years. She’s happy to be back in close proximity with her family. Her hobbies include: reading, gluten-free baking, listening to music, Crossfit, and making fun salads with random things in the fridge.

She collects fun sneakers: Vans, Air Force One's, Air Jordan's...and will wear a pair to work most days!
