The Dispatch-Argus Regional Spelling Bee was held Saturday, February 25, at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. The Marion Home School Assistance Program (MHSAP) Spelling Bee Champion, Lindsey Jessen, a sixth grader, competed against 39 other students from Illinois and Iowa. In the end, she walked away as the 2023 DISPATCH-ARGUS REGIONAL SPELLING BEE CHAMPION after spelling "Holstein" correctly.

Lindsey will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., May 28 – June 2. She received a championship trophy, travel expenses paid to compete in the National Spelling Bee, the Sugarman Award, including a 2023 United States Mint Proof Set, a one-year subscription to Merriam-Webster Unabridged Online, and a one-year subscription to Britannica Online.

We're so proud of her and excited for all that she'll experience at nationals – way to go Lindsey!
