The ISASP TEST will be offered at MHSAP April 24—May 3, 2023.

Standardized testing is OPTIONAL at MHSAP except for
• juniors in our high school diploma program.
• students taking the CogAT.
• sophomores in diploma program who are planning early graduation need to notify their supervising teacher and take the 11th grade assessments.

We will offer the COMPUTER VERSION of the ISASP. It is highly recommended that students be comfortable with the online practice tests before they take the ISASP. All grades have testing in reading, math and language/writing. Science testing is included for 5th, 8th and 10th graders only, and they will have three-day testing. The other grades will have two-day testing. The tests are not timed, so students may stay longer than the estimated time and work as long as they are making progress.

CALCULATORS are embedded in the online ISASP mathematics and science assessments or students may bring their own. Students in grades 3—6 may use a basic four-function calculator and students in grades 7—11 may use scientific calculators, but not any that have cameras, internet access or CAS. MHSAP will not provide calculators. Ask Amy Forret if you have questions.

The ISASP is based on the Iowa Core and you can find a list of standards for each grade level and subject on the Iowa Core website (iowacore.gov/iowa-core). New PRACTICE TESTS and additional prep materials will be posted on the ISASP website in December. Practice tests are available online by searching for ISASP practice tests or going to: iowa.pearsonaccessnext.com/test-prep/ and scrolling down to practice tests. The practice tests take about half the time of the actual tests. There is a tutorial available on that site as well as a Student Readiness Tool. The MHSAP library also has test-taking materials. Note that there is writing involved with the ISASP tests, both short answer and essay writing. Workshops going through the online tutorial for the ISASP practice tests will be held in March:
