Open Enrollment is the option to enroll in the MHSAP program if you live outside the Marion Independent School District and live within 45 miles of MHSAP.
Last year the state legislature eliminated the annual March 1 deadline (grades 1-12) for open enrollment. The positive side of this is that families have expanded options throughout the year to make necessary changes to their children's educational program. The negative side of this change is that it makes it more challenging for us in terms of planning for hiring staff and developing our enrichment offerings. Over 90% of our program families are open enrolled into our program.
We are asking that if you have made a decision to open enroll (or enroll additional siblings) for 2023-24 please let us know by around March 1. (Contact Tami Pollock in the office, info below.) You can download an Open Enrollment form here. Also if you have friends that you know are planning to open enroll into MHSAP, please have them contact us as soon as they have made a decision.
We usually try to finalize our program enrichment offerings for the following year by March, to prepare the necessary registration materials. We also try to at least interview, if not also hire any additional teachers in that same time frame so that we can assign families to teachers before May 1.
