VMS Teen Living students have been hard at work with first quarter activities that include sewing and cooking projects, as well as creating research posters about making healthy choices. The final projects look great!
Vernon artists have been hard at work creating and showcasing creative designs in Mrs. Hale's seventh and eighth grade art classes. Seventh grade art students designed a functioning whistle built from a basic form. That basic form needed to be concealed in the final product. Discussion and strategy of design determined the success of the whistle. Eighth graders designed a functioning Tic Tac Toe board with a clear theme that coordinated with original X and O pieces. The design and shape of the board needed to work well with the pieces, allowing them to fit well. The design process often needed revision or reworking to make this happen. Students reviewed each other's design to give valuable feedback. Great work, Vernon artists!

Sofi V. ran at the IATC Middle School State Cross Country meet this past weekend, placing 29th with a time of 13:38. This puts her 5th all-time for 8th-grade girls at VMS! Congratulations to Sofi!

WAMAC was the last VMS cross country meet of the season. The top place winners were Kiki (7th place), James (7th place), and Sofi (9th place), and the 7th grade boys placed 3rd as a team! Congratulations to all of our VMS runners!
VMS Cross Country North Linn Results: Girls placed 3rd and Boys 6th. Top Finishers:
7th Grade: Kiki - 4th place with a PR time of 14:15, which is the 7th fastest all-time VMS 7th grade girls time!
James - 17th place with a PR time of 13:41
8th Grade: Sofi placed 8th and Braxton placed 31st
The team recorded many more PRs! Great job to all VMS runners! The team celebrated their final practice with a run to The Freeze for ice cream treats, and will finish the season this afternoon in Williamsburg at the WAMAC Meet! Go Wolves!
