volunteering

As part of our Wildly Important Goal to reduce the number of students who do not meet benchmark on our FAST literacy assessments between fall and spring, we are excited to launch a building-wide effort to strengthen student literacy skills—and we need your help!

We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about supporting students as they grow as readers. Whether it’s practicing letter names and sounds, working through tricky words, or reading grade-level text with expression and fluency, your time and encouragement can make a powerful difference.

What Volunteers Will Do

Volunteers may help students with:

  • Identifying letter names and sounds

  • Practicing sight words and decoding tricky words

  • Reading grade-level text to build fluency, expression, and confidence

To ensure you feel prepared, each grade level will have a short video explaining exactly what you’ll be doing with students. This will be sent to you once your application and background check are complete.

How to Get Involved

If you’re interested in volunteering, please complete this Google Form: https://forms.gle/WSNCvrUhhmaS4atP7

As part of the process, all volunteers are required to complete the district’s volunteer application and background check.

Volunteer Application: (Background check required) https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/OTc4NDplbi1VUw==

If you have already completed this application earlier this school year, simply note that on the form.

We hope to begin welcoming volunteers in early December and continue through the end of May.

The more volunteers we have, the more students we can support!

What Happens Next

Once your application is submitted, reviewed, and cleared, we will email you—using the address you provide on the form—with the grade-level video(s) and details for getting started.

Spread the Word

Even if you’re unable to volunteer, you can still help! Please feel free to share the form with grandparents, aunts/uncles, neighbors, or anyone who might enjoy working with students and supporting literacy development.

Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity. Together, we can make a lasting impact on student learning and help our readers grow stronger every day!
