Preschool is where the foundation for a lifetime of learning begins, and we are proud of the incredible experiences we provide our youngest learners every day through purposeful, play-based learning.
Our program follows the Iowa Early Learning Standards, ensuring children receive a high-quality, developmentally appropriate education that supports the whole child. Play is the heart of our preschool program. Through meaningful, hands-on play experiences, students explore, question, create, and problem-solve while building strong foundations in early literacy, math, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Students are also introduced to early computer science concepts, such as problem-solving, sequencing, and logical thinking, helping them develop skills needed in an ever-changing, technology-driven world.
A hallmark of our preschool program is a strong focus on independence, which is intentionally developed through play and daily routines. During both structured and unstructured play, children practice making choices, following routines, managing personal belongings, problem-solving, and advocating for themselves. These opportunities build confidence, responsibility, and self-regulation—skills that extend far beyond the classroom. Independence is embedded throughout the day so students become capable, confident learners.
Social-emotional growth is also nurtured through play. Through Early Childhood PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), children learn expectations, emotional regulation, cooperation, respectful communication, and positive behaviors. Play-based interactions provide meaningful opportunities for children to practice being kind friends, managing emotions, solving problems peacefully, and contributing positively to their classroom community. These skills are explicitly taught, modeled, and reinforced daily.
Preschool offers flexible programming options to meet the needs of families while maintaining consistent, high-quality instruction:
Half-Day Preschool (Free) – Morning or afternoon sessions
Full-Day Preschool (Fee-Based) – A full school-day experience that includes extended learning, enrichment, and the school lunch experience, providing additional opportunities for social growth and independence
Both half-day and full-day options provide the same core learning experiences, including play-based instruction, social-emotional learning, independence development, and pre-academic foundations. The full-day option allows additional time for deeper exploration, extended play, enrichment activities, and participation in lunch routines.
Our ultimate goal is for students to leave future ready—academically, socially, emotionally, and independently. Through intentional instruction and the power of play, Preschool provides a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children develop the skills they need for long-term success.
