In kindergarten, learning doesn’t just happen at our tables — it comes to life through meaningful, hands-on experiences! Our students participate in culminating activities at the end of each CKLA Knowledge unit to help deepen understanding, build excitement, and create lasting memories connected to their learning.
After studying kings and queens, our classroom was transformed for a magical Royal Tea Party. Students practiced manners, celebrated what they had learned about royal traditions, and even dressed the part. It was a wonderful way to make history feel real and memorable.
At the end of our Plants and Pollinators unit, we welcomed a special guest speaker who taught us all about bees. Students were able to ask questions, see real materials, and connect their classroom learning to the important role pollinators play in our world.
Our Five Senses unit ended with delicious, hands-on fun! Students made popcorn and homemade applesauce, using all five senses along the way. They listened carefully to the popcorn popping, smelled the sweet aroma filling the room, observed the changes in the apples as they cooked, felt different textures, and of course tasted their creations. It was a perfect way to experience learning through sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste.
During our Nursery Rhymes and Fables unit, we hosted Nursery Rhyme Olympics. Students participated in themed games and activities connected to familiar rhymes, building teamwork and strengthening comprehension skills in a fun and active way.
Our Colonial Towns and Townspeople unit was filled with hands-on history. Students experienced butter making and welcomed a weaving expert who demonstrated traditional weaving techniques. These experiences helped students better understand daily life in early American towns.
To wrap up our Taking Care of the Earth unit, our kindergarteners became real-world helpers by picking up trash around the school grounds. They learned that even small actions can make a big difference in caring for our environment.
These culminating activities are more than just celebrations — they are intentional, engaging learning experiences that reinforce CKLA Knowledge content in meaningful ways. By bringing learning to life, we help our youngest students build strong connections, deepen understanding, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We are so proud of our kindergarteners and the enthusiasm they bring to every unit!
