Reading together every evening adds up fast. Just 20 minutes a day equals 3,600 minutes and 1.8 million words per school year!
Why Home Reading Matters So Much:
🧠 Builds Strong Brains: Daily language exposure strengthens critical neural pathways and expands vocabulary effortlessly.
🌟 Fires Up Imagination: Books open doors to new worlds, boosting empathy, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
📈 Drives Academic Success: Kids who read at home score higher across all subjects—not just reading, but science and math, too!
❤️ Creates Connection: Whether you read to them or they read to you, it builds confidence and creates lasting family memories.
How Our Monthly Reading Program Works:
🍏 Grab Your Log: Each month features a fun theme (like September’s 12 apples!).
✏️ Read & Sign: Fill in all 12 items as you read, get a parent signature, and turn it in.
🎁 Win Prizes: Earn an immediate classroom prize PLUS an entry into our weekly prize drawing. Need more? Grab an extra log!
🎉 Our Big Goal: We’re aiming for 100,000 total reading minutes as a school. Once we hit it, we'll have a schoolwide celebration!
Let's get reading, Longfellow families! #LongfellowReads #20MinutesADay #ReadingIsAFamilyAffair
