PE

This month in Physical Education, our students have been participating in a variety of stations and tag games designed to build fundamental movement skills while keeping everyone active and engaged. PE at the elementary level is all about learning how our bodies move, trying new activities, and developing healthy habits that students can carry with them for life.

Why Stations

Stations allow students to rotate through several skill-building activities in a single class period. Each station focuses on different movement skills such as:

  • throwing and catching

  • jumping and landing

  • balance and coordination

  • striking with hands or equipment

This keeps every student moving, gives them more practice time, and helps them learn at their own pace. It also teaches responsibility, cooperation, and independence as they transition from one activity to the next.

Why Tag Games

Tag games are one of our students’ favorite ways to stay active! Beyond being fun, tag activities help students develop:

  • speed and agility

  • spatial awareness

  • quick decision making

  • teamwork

  • good sportsmanship

Tag also keeps heart rates up – an important piece of daily physical activity.

What Students are Learning Socially

PE is a place where students build confidence and learn how to be part of a team. We practice:

  • encouraging others

  • taking turns

  • solving problems

  • respecting personal space

  • following directions

We emphasize effort, improvement, and having a positive attitude over winning.

Looking ahead

As we continue throughout the year, students will get to try new games, learn new skills, and build fitness in a safe, supportive environment. I love watching their confidence grow and seeing them discover activities they enjoy!

If you ever have questions about what we’re doing in PE or how to support healthy movement at home, feel free to reach out. I’m excited to continue helping our students build strong bodies—and strong character.
