3rd and 4th graders at FMI are having a blast learning to play the ukulele! These beautiful instruments were provided through a generous grant from the Marion Foundation in 2021. In 3rd grade, students learn how to properly hold the instrument, what the parts are, and we practice four different chords so we can play a variety of popular songs. In 4th grade, students review their knowledge from 3rd grade and then learn the G7 chord, which uses three fingers! This opens up the chance to play even more popular and classic songs spanning from the 1950s to today! If your student is enjoying the ukulele and is asking about having one at home, Mrs. Bunge has more information and tips on her school website: https://bit.ly/fmi-music-newsletter-ukuleles IMG_5019.jpg
