Second graders began researching this week for an informational narrative piece to go along with their knowledge unit on Insects. ✍️ Each author is writing from the point of view of an insect, sharing information about their habitat, food source 🌸, and whether they are a social 🐝 🐜 or a solitary insect. ☺️ #lesinspire

Kindergarten students just completed a CKLA  Knowledge Unit on Colonial Towns and Townspeople. For their culminating activity, Mrs. Beckner’s class made butter! They realized just how hard people had to work back in colonial times and that hard work pays off! It was all thumbs up when they were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor! #lesinspire

First Graders took a trip to Culver's Garden Center to learn about how plants grow. They can use their knowledge learned to help them care for the plants they are growing in the classroom during their current science unit! The students enjoyed exploring the different greenhouses and learning about different jobs that are done to care for the many plants. Did you know they have 14 greenhouses and over 100,000 plants there?! #lesinspire

First graders have been learning about habitats around the world in CKLA Knowledge. So far they have learned about the Arctic Tundra, Sonoran Desert, East African Savanna, and the Temperate Deciduous Forest. For each habitat they learn about the climate, the ground covering, water sources, plants and animals that live there, and adaptations those plants and animals have made over time to be able to live there. They still have the Tropical Rain Forest, Fresh Water, and Salt Water habitats to learn about! #lesinspire

The second graders have been learning about the U.S. Civil War during their CKLA Knowledge time. Today they worked in teams on a “brain dump” activity to review and discuss what they’ve learned. #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork 😊 What do you remember learning about Harriet Tubman or Clara Barton? Do you remember which side General Lee or General Grant fought for? 🤔 You could always ask your favorite #secondgradeexpert for a tutorial! 🤓 #lesinspire

During CAPS lessons, our first and second graders are learning all about their social filter—what to say out loud and what to keep in their brain! Students practice sorting phrases and asking themselves four important questions: 1️⃣ Is it kind? 2️⃣ Is it helpful? 3️⃣ Is it true? 4️⃣ Is it the right time? We’re so proud of the thoughtful conversations and self-control skills they’re building every day! #lesinspire
