Outstanding Staff Receive 2021 MISD Leader Awards
It was an exciting day in the Marion Independent School District when two staff found out they were the recipients of the 2021 MISD Leader Awards. Tom Ertz, Marion Home School Assistance Program Director and Judy Randall, Accounting Specialist for Marion Independent School District were recognized with surprise announcements on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 surrounded by their families and close colleagues.
The MISD Leader Award is given annually by the Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association and recognizes District staff who go above and beyond for students, their colleagues and the community. Staff are nominated and voted for by their peers to receive the award.
Erin Steffen, Executive Director of the Foundation said, “During Teacher Appreciation Week we honor staff who are dedicated to education, and MISD Leader Awards are an important part of this week. Marion Independent is lucky to have a team of staff who truly care about the students, each other and the community, especially during this challenging year. We received a record number of nominations for staff who have gone above and beyond in their roles. Tom and Judy are truly deserving of this recognition.”
Tom Ertz’s nominator wrote, “Tom has incredible leadership skills! He continually moves the program forward to better the education of our students with innovative ideas, patience, encouragement, strength of character and integrity, and providing the resources for our staff to continually develop our educational skills.”
Judy Randall’s nomination read, “Judy is an extraordinary person and co-worker. She is always quick to help no matter what she is in the middle of. She goes way beyond her duties and hours to make sure her work is complete along with anyone else's. Judy always has a smile on her face (under her mask) and makes sure your questions are answered…Our district is very lucky to have her.”
Additionally, Marion Independent School Foundation & Alumni Association was able to thank all District staff by hosting a breakfast or lunch at each building the week of May 3-7, 2021.
