Congratulations to the following student finalists of the KCCK 88.3 Jazz Corridor Project CD Contest!

Congratulations to New Creation on their outstanding performances at Benton's "Touch of Class" this past weekend. New Creation earned awards for Best Opener, High Energy, the People’s Choice, Best Director, Outstanding Performer (Story Smith), Best Female Soloist (Mady Fentress), Best Band, Best Choreography, Best Vocals, Grand Champions of the 3A Division, and finished 2nd Runner-Up Overall in the finals. New Creation competes at Anamosa on January 31st. Congratulations to all of you!

Another successful cupcake wars this quarter! We had many wonderful creations; each group chose unique themes to showcase their cupcake creations. Students in Bakery class learned all about cupcake decor and technique. They are all winners.




These students created busts of Malala Yousafzai and a WWI soldier for a class project. Great work!

Bakery students are working to decorate their cupcakes for cupcake wars competition tomorrow. Students chose their own recipe to make their cupcakes and frosting from scratch. Wish them luck with the judges tomorrow!

Congratulations to New Creation Show Choir! They competed at Xavier on Saturday and finished 1st in the 3A Division and 2nd Overall. Mady Fentress earned the Best Soloist award, and Story Smith and Nathan Usher earned Best Performer awards. New Creation competes at Benton this weekend at 2:25 pm.

To celebrate the "end of WWII", Mr. Blech's World War II class enjoyed glass bottles of Coke and Hershey bars... just like American soldiers did!




Iowa Blues Hall of Fame inductee Kevin "BF" Burt visited with our Iowa History students as they concluded their Arts unit. Mr. Burt played songs, answered questions about the music industry and shared his passion for Iowa.

Bakery class decorated their own layered cakes. Here's the winner of the class competition! This student made a chocolate cake with infused coffee, cherry filling, and buttercream frosting. This unit is practice for our next competition and final project, cupcake wars!



Mrs. Mundorf's AP Lit had a Multiple Choice Question horse race! Congrats to our winning jockeys!


In Mr. Fruehling's law class, K9 officer Kyle Bergen visited to teach about the dog, its capabilities, and saw a search and Mr Fruehling get “bit” :)

For the 2nd year in a row, Marion High School has been awarded the Carrie Chapman Catt Award. This year over 90% of our senior class (165+) have registered to vote. On April 22nd, Mr. Mitchell and '26 class representatives will travel to the Iowa State Capitol to be recognized!
