The Vernon 7th and 8th Grade Band members performed at Adventureland on Wednesday. 🎶🎷🥁 The bands combined to provide musical entertainment before enjoying the park for the remainder of the day. 🎺🎵 Congratulations to our band students on a great year!


We’d like to thank 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher Jeff Mayrose for his five years of service to MISD! 💫 Before arriving in our district, he taught in the Philippines for five years and in Janesville, Wisconsin, for one year. He says the best thing about MISD is the people he gets to work with each day. Thank you for all you do, Jeff!

High School Science Teacher Mitch Hewitt is celebrating five years of service in MISD! 🔬
He enjoys his work because of the “small community feel in a metro area.” Outside the classroom, he enjoys spending time with family and hunting. We appreciate all you do to instill a love of science in our students, Mitch! 🙌

Today, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Kalli Semler, a school counselor who is celebrating five years in MISD! ✨ “I love coming to work every day, as it gives me the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with both students and staff members,” she says. “The sense of community within our school district is truly special, with everyone caring deeply about the success and wellbeing of each individual. It's a privilege to be a part of such a supportive and nurturing environment.” Thank you for all you do, Kalli!

Longfellow Special Education Teacher Chelsea Albright is celebrating 10 years of service in MISD! 🎉 “At MISD, especially at Longfellow, it's like being part of one big family,” she says. “We're all about putting the kids first and supporting each other along the way. I love knowing that if I ever need anything, I can count on anyone here. It really makes work feel like more than just a job!”

Preschool Teacher Amanda Heim is celebrating 15 years of service in MISD! 🙌
“Working closely with others on different projects, committees, and student learning has allowed for relationships to form outside of school hours,” she says. “It's nice to be part of a community where you see past students and they remember your name—and you still remember theirs!” We appreciate all you do, Amanda!

Eli Cochrane is celebrating five years of service in MISD! 💫She serves as a behavior interventionist/restorative practices coordinator at VMS.“There is a real sense of family and community at MISD,” she says. In her free time, Eli enjoys bike riding and playing soccer, kickball, pickleball, and volleyball. ⚽

Dawn Young has served as an instructional strategist at MHS for the past four years! 🌟
“Marion High School’s culture makes it a special place,” she says. “Students, families, and staff are valued and treated with respect. The caring culture empowers students to become learners who take risks and own their future!” We appreciate all you do for our students, Dawn!

Today, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Ann Wilson, a preschool teacher who is marking 15 years of service in MISD! 👏 “The best part of being part of the MISD community is the students and watching them grow and learn,” she says. In her free time, Ann enjoys reading, shopping, camping, and spending time with her family.

We’d like to thank MHS Principal Secretary Ann Dittmar for her 15 years of service in our district! 🙌 “MISD is special because of the incredible people who pull together as a work family, helping staff and students to make a better working and learning community,” she says. “I love that the kids here can get the chance to excel as community leaders with skills, experience, and knowledge through the higher level course work, AP, and college options. The energy is great and there are so many directions available for the students to move forward. ”We’re grateful for all you do on a daily basis, Ann! 🌟

Digital Communications and Visual Arts Teacher Jennifer Thilges just wrapped up her 25th year serving MISD schools! 🖥️🎨 “The mission and focus of MISD is to always put students first,” she says. “This is a philosophy that has been upheld throughout my career. I have always felt supported with my efforts to expand curriculum and technology resource needs. My students are the driving force that inspires me to keep learning, taking risks, and finding the joy in teaching.” We’re grateful for all your amazing efforts over the years, Jennifer!

Associate Roxanne Enos is celebrating 10 years of service in MISD! 🎉
“I graduated from Marion and I have been blessed to have worked with many staff who are very dedicated to teaching our students and making a difference in their lives,” she says.
Outside the classroom, Roxanne loves to travel, garden, bargain shop, and spend time with her grandchildren, family, and friends.

Tom Hauck, 7-12 PE/Health Teacher, is celebrating 15 years of service in MISD! 🏉⚽⚾
“MISD is a special place because of the community that is created by the faculty and students,” he says. “It is such a welcoming and supportive environment that allows everyone to be successful. ”In his free time, Tom enjoys playing, coaching, and watching sports, and being outside with his daughters. He also enjoys playing euchre with friends and traveling.

This past school year was 2nd Grade Teacher Mary Tank’s 20th in MISD! 🙌

Today, we’d like to shine a spotlight on Kim DeWulf, a Title I reading specialist who is marking 32 years in MISD! ✨She previously served as a kindergarten teacher in our schools.
“I have been fortunate to spend my whole career in MISD,” Kim says. “What I find special about this district is its ability to create a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment where individuals are supported to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.”
